All reins are made in organic tanned leather. They comes in black and brown and are available in many different variants - both with rubber, in leather, or the classic rein. Montar leather undergoes a tanning process that uses vegetable enzymes and not chemicals such as chromium. This uses oils and extracts from different parts of plants, such as bark, branches, roots and seeds. These vegetable components contain tannic acid, an acid that acts as a moisturizer during the vegetable tanning process. This method allows up to 80% of the acid to be absorbed into the leather, resulting in excess material that is completely biodegradable. Ecologically tanned leather is known for its durability compared to chemically tanned leather. Ecologically tanned leather has a lower risk of skin irritation or allergic reactions in the horse.
