To protect your boots I personally find track protectors very nice. It is unfortunate that these protectors do not have a small notch on the track itself, but with a small cut this is also resolved. The protectors then glued with superglue and they remain fantastic.

Stay well, never lost 1 or gone off with daily use. Just a pity that there were no recesses for the tracks, but they are easy to cut out or cut.
