Saddle Girth

For horses with sensitive skin, fur girths are very suitable. A girth of lambskin ensures good ventilation and the wool is also very soft for the skin. In addition to fur girth, there are also lambswool girth covers. These girth sleeves are available in different sizes.

There are also leather girths. These girths are often somewhat more expensive than neoprene girths, but they last a long time and are comfortable for the horse. Leather is good to the horse and this makes it nice to wear. Leather is sensitive to sweat and therefore you need to maintain it properly with a leather care product. There are leather girths with and without elastic. A girth with elastic is easy to put on and the horse can expand the rib cage better. It is advisable to take a girth with elastic on both sides and not on one side. In the case of girth with elastic on one side, the saddle can pull out more quickly. If a horse needs a longer girth for a specific period, you can also opt for a single girth.

There are special girths with bellyflap for jumping saddles. This belly flap is usually made of reinforced leather and protects the belly of the horse against blows of the front hooves. Some horses pull their forelegs so high during jumping that they wound their own belly. A girth with belly flap prevents this.
